Editor's Notes

October 3, 2011

In today's lesson, we shared the article topic selection process with a small-group "think through it" activity. Throughout the process, we discussed the importance of considering our Interests and Curiosities, our Team Roles, our Audience, our Purpose for writing, and our Next Steps to get the ball rolling.
After filling out the Topic Selection Matrix, we shared our thinking through a silent share activity in which each small-group member exchanged their matrix with another group member for feedback and for the sake of reaching consensus as to the topic the small-group will be tackling for the October issue of The Eagle. This process continued until all four members' ideas had been reviewed, critiqued, and considered. At this point we spoke about our ideas openly toward reaching a consensus and considering our next steps.
